Monop’ (Monoprix) Saint Martin is open! The Bellevue store is now open again, after being closed since Hurricane Irma.
With limited options available, shopping has become such a chore. While monoprix may not replace your large weekly shop, it is a fantastic place to grab a few essentials and specialty items not found elsewhere. They have a huge BIO range and plenty of choice for those wishing to shop plastic free. They also have well-stocked bulk bins and gluten free/allergen free items.
Vegetables
While Monop’ has conventionally packaged vegetables, they also have a large selection of loose veggies. Some delicate vegetables can be bought in cardboard boxes wrapped in cellophane.
Bulk Bins
Bulk Bins are where your plastic-free shopping can reach new levels! Monop’ has a wide selection of organic nuts and grains. You can buy as much or as little as you need. Unfortunately the current paper bags on offer have a plastic window, but you can still drastically reduce your packaging waste by buying in bulk.
Personal Hygeine
Naty Baby Eco by Naty diapers are available. These diapers are great for the most sensitive skin, and are made from renewable materials. They are free of petroleum based plastics and mostly biodegradable. (just remember that PLA plastics Only biodegrade in optimum conditions, which a landfill is not.)
They also have Naty sanitary pads and beCup Menstrual cups.
Chocolate
Chocolate that tastes so good, yet is vegan, organic, and palm-oil free.
Local Produce
Monop’ had a large display of Caribbean-grown produce before Hurricane Irma. The local selection is a bit limited at the moment, but it is still nice to see a supermarket making the effort to stock food from the region. Hopefully this can only improve as producers recover from the disastrous 2017 season.
Monoprix is Open! Details:
Monop‘ is located in Bellevue on the main road from Cole Bay into Marigot. There is plenty of parking in the Bellevue shopping center and Monoprix is usually reasonably quiet except during the lunch time rush. They are open 7:30am to 7:30pm.
New fresh produce arrives every Saturday, so the best time to shop is Sunday morning, or Monday.

Hello, do you know if this Monoprix sells household items, personal care items, or clothes like the Monoprix in France does?
No clothes, but it does have a small range of kitchen items, basic stationary, and a few other household goods. It is a monop grocery rather than a full Monoprix department store.
